HD 01_1 Basics of teaching and learning (course language is english)

Learning takes place in the brain. Learning in the brain does not work like saving and restoring data and files on a computer. The brain performs in a much more networked and complex way – making it extremely efficient.

In order to design your course suitable for the brain, you will gain an insight into how the brain works and findings from teaching and learning research. The constructive alignment model helps to translate these into concrete measures. The formulation of precise learning outcomes is central to this. You will gain an initial overview on the field of higher education teaching and learning as well as the psychological principles mentioned. You will get the opportunity to implement them directly in your own course.

In order to use the workshop time as effectively as possible, there will be an assignment to work on content (instructional videos and worksheets) in advance. You will receive more information on this in the confirmation of admission by e-mail.
